This article goes over common technical issues you may face when uploading a private application in managed Google Play, as well as how to address them.
Privates applications must comply to the same rules as public applications when uploaded to managed Google Play.
"Upload a new APK file with a different package name"
APK files uploaded to Google Play must have a unique package name. If you are getting the above error message, this means that there is already another application in Google Play with your same package name.
Solutions:
- If it is someone in your organization who uploaded your private app in another WizyEMM account, or another EMM with managed Google Play, then you can privately share this application to your current managed Google Play account. Check out this article for more details on how to distribute private apps to multiple organizations.
- If you don't know who has already uploaded your package name to Google Play, but you feel that this package name belongs to your organization, you can contact Google and they will help you locate the Google Play account who uploaded the package name.
- Otherwise, you can also change the package name of your APK file and upload it to your WizyEMM console.
- You could look into application side-loading as a workaround (more information here)
"APK has been signed in debug mode"
Applications uploaded to the Google Play store need to be signed in release mode.
